Comparing Sendinblue vs SendGrid
Promotional email campaigns and transactional emails via SMTP relay — at no extra cost!
Sendinblue vs. SendGrid: What's the difference?
When it comes to email marketing, Sendinblue and SendGrid offer similar features, including tools for design, segmentation, and personalization. But, if you’re looking for an all-in-one marketing platform, Sendinblue gives you more at no extra cost.
To send one-to-one transactional messages like password resets and order updates, you’ll need to pay for SendGrid’s Email API plan on top of their Marketing Campaigns plan. This is because SendGrid doesn’t offer SMTP relay on its Marketing Campaigns plan — this service only available via API.
The same goes for sending SMS messages or adding a live chat box to your website — you can only do so by purchasing SendGrid’s Twilio solution separately.
With Sendinblue, transactional emails sent over SMTP relay are included in the price of all plans. Plus, the platform has other multichannel tools to help you grow, like Facebook ads to drive online traffic and landing pages to convert your visitors.
With Sendinblue you won’t be charged for contact storage either, with free unlimited contact on all plans. SendGrid, on the other hand, charges more as your contact list grows.

SendGrid vs. Sendinblue pricing: Get more for your money with Sendinblue
SendGrid and Sendinblue have similar pricing but Sendinblue works out cheaper for high volume senders — check out the pricing simulations below. 👇
And remember, these prices are only for SendGrid’s email marketing service. If you need to send transactional emails, you must purchase SendGrid’s Email API plan separately.
For similar pricing, Sendinblue plans include email marketing & transactional emails (via SMTP relay). Plus, you’ll also get access to other multichannel tools. This means Sendinblue is better value for money.
On the Free plan, Sendinblue lets you send up to 300 emails per day (9,000/month) with unlimited contact storage. Meanwhile, SendGrid allows 6,000 emails per month free but only for up to 2,000 contacts.

Get more powerful marketing automation with Sendinblue
Sendinblue offers advanced marketing automation features for sending each of your subscribers the right message at the right time.
As well as common scenarios like welcome, birthday, and abandoned cart emails you can create custom workflows with different trigger options. These include not only customers’ engagement with emails but also their activity on your website thanks to the Sendinblue Tracker tool. You can also build more personalized journeys with conditions to determine the route users take based on their behavior.
Aside from sending emails you can also use automation for SMS messages and managing your subscribers. For example, automatically add or remove subscribers from lists or even assign them lead scores based on their engagement.
Meanwhile, SendGrid has fewer options. The only prebuilt workflow is for a welcome series. And while they do support lead scoring, this feature is only available as a paid add-on.

Jonathan MargrèveSendinblue is better than the competition
"After deciding to leave our Mandrill/MailChimp combo, we tried Sarbacane, Elastic, and SendGrid. Sendinblue is the big winner for all categories combined, making it one of the best Sendgrid alternatives in my mind."
